No surprises. No hidden steps. Here is the complete process, start to finish.
Real timelines. Honest expectations. We tell you what takes a day and what takes a month.
DAY 1
Enter your electricity bill. See your savings, system size, and EMI instantly. No signup needed.
Time: 30 seconds
DAY 1
Share your PAN and basic details. Get a financing decision in 5 minutes. Know your exact EMI, interest rate, and total cost.
Time: 5 minutes. This is a soft check -- it does not affect your credit score.
DAY 1-3
Select from Suryam Lite (1-2 kW), Plus (3 kW), or Max (5 kW). See exactly what is included. Compare options. Every kit includes panels, inverter, mounting, wiring, installation, net meter, and government paperwork.
Time: 1-3 days for research and decision
DAY 3-5
We register you on pmsuryaghar.gov.in, upload your documents, and submit your application. You sign the form we prepare.
Time: 1-2 days from our side. Make sure your name on Aadhaar, electricity bill, and bank account match exactly. This is the #1 cause of delays.
DAY 5-50
Your local DISCOM evaluates whether your transformer and grid can support solar. This is the step we cannot control -- but we follow up weekly on your behalf.
Expected: 15-20 days. Actual: 15-45 days depending on your DISCOM.
Best: Gujarat, Karnataka, Delhi DISCOMs (15-20 days)
Slowest: UP, Kerala, Tamil Nadu DISCOMs (30-45+ days)
DAY 50-57
Your certified installer arrives. Installation takes 3-5 days for a standard residential system. They mount panels, install inverter, run wiring, and connect everything.
Time: 3-5 working days. Your installer will contact you 48 hours before to confirm timing.
DAY 57-85
DISCOM installs a bi-directional meter and inspects your system. This is the second step we cannot control, but we coordinate it for you.
Expected: 7-15 days. Actual: 15-30 days.
Once the net meter is active, your system starts saving you money.
DAY 85-180
After inspection, your PM Surya Ghar subsidy is transferred to your Aadhaar-linked bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer.
Official: 30 working days after commissioning. Actual: 60-120 days (2-4 months).
If your subsidy is delayed beyond 4 months, we escalate to DISCOM and MNRE on your behalf.
We are honest about these timelines because you deserve to know what to expect.
| Phase | Best Case | Typical | Worst Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Decision to installation start | 20-30 days | 35-50 days | 60+ days |
| Installation | 3-5 days | 3-7 days | 7-10 days |
| Net meter + inspection | 10-20 days | 20-35 days | 45+ days |
| Total to power-on | ~45 days | ~70-90 days | 120+ days |
| Subsidy disbursement | 60 days after | 90-120 days | 180+ days |
Your panels can be up in under a week. The full process including government approvals typically takes 2-3 months. Most solar companies promise "4 weeks" and then blame the DISCOM when it takes 3 months. We tell you upfront: expect 8-12 weeks.
