Suryam is the consumer brand of Aerem, a solar platform backed by $34.5M from SMBC, Schneider Electric, BII, UTEC, Blume, and Avaana. We exist to make solar simple for Indian homeowners. Financing is provided by NetZero Finance, an RBI-licensed NBFC and Aerem company. Installation is done by Aerem-certified partners -- vetted, trained, and insured installers with Rs 10L+ coverage.
Suryam is powered by Aerem, which has enabled 1,200+ MW of solar installations through 3,200+ certified partners across 150+ cities. Our financing arm, NetZero Finance, is an RBI-registered NBFC. We are backed by institutional investors including SMBC (one of the largest banks in the world) and Schneider Electric. Every installer in our network carries minimum Rs 10L insurance and has been through our 4-tier certification program.
Unlike marketplace models, Suryam controls quality end-to-end. We pre-approve your financing (5 minutes via our own NBFC), assign a certified installer from our vetted network, handle all government paperwork, and monitor your system after installation. We also show you honest timelines -- we tell you the full process takes 2-3 months, not "4 weeks." Pricing is transparent: the kit price includes everything. No hidden charges.
3 kW system (most popular): Rs 1,80,000 before subsidy, Rs 1,02,000 after PM Surya Ghar subsidy. 5 kW system: Rs 2,90,000 before subsidy, Rs 2,12,000 after subsidy. 1-2 kW starter: from Rs 35,000 after subsidy. PM Surya Ghar subsidy: Rs 30,000/kW for first 2 kW + Rs 18,000/kW for 3rd kW = Rs 78,000 maximum. These prices include everything: panels, inverter, mounting, wiring, installation, net meter, and government paperwork.
For a 3 kW system at 7% (PM Surya Ghar eligible rate, 10 years): approximately Rs 1,185/month on the Rs 1,02,000 after-subsidy amount. At 9% over 7 years on Rs 1,50,000: approximately Rs 2,415/month. EMI starts from Rs 406/month for a 1 kW system. Your monthly savings (Rs 2,000-4,200 for a 3 kW system) typically exceed your EMI, so solar pays for itself from month one.
Honest answer: SBI offers 7% for PM Surya Ghar eligible systems up to 3 kW. Our rate through NetZero Finance is competitive but may be slightly higher for some profiles. The difference: SBI takes 4-6 weeks for approval with branch visits and paperwork. NetZero Finance approves in 5 minutes, fully digital. For a 3 kW system, the rate difference works out to approximately Rs 400-600/month. That is the price of instant approval and a process that does not make you visit a bank branch three times.
No. The kit price includes panels, inverter, mounting, wiring, installation, net meter coordination, PM Surya Ghar application, and first-year monitoring. The only possible additional costs: roof waterproofing repair (if your roof needs it before installation) and electrical panel upgrade (if your panel is outdated -- the installer will tell you during site survey). These are not Suryam charges -- they are home repairs that would be needed regardless.
Physical installation: 3-5 days. But the full process from decision to power-on: typically 70-90 days. The delay is government approvals -- DISCOM feasibility (15-45 days) and net meter installation (15-30 days). Your panels can be up in under a week. The full process including government approvals typically takes 2-3 months. We are honest about this because we believe you deserve to know what to expect.
No. Panels are mounted on galvanized steel structures that are either bolted into RCC roofs (with waterproof sealant) or weighted down on flat roofs. Our installers carry Rs 10L+ insurance that covers any damage during installation. The mounting structure has a 10-year warranty. In fact, panels protect your roof from direct sun and rain, which can extend roof life.
Yes. All panels in our kits are BIS certified and tested for Indian weather conditions -- heavy rain, hail (up to 25mm), and wind speeds up to 200 km/h. They are also IP65 rated, meaning they are completely dust-tight and protected against water jets. Panels generate less power during monsoon (cloudy days reduce output by 30-50%), but they do not stop working.
Honest answer: standard on-grid solar systems shut down during power cuts. This is a safety requirement -- your system must not feed power into the grid when line workers are repairing it. If you want power during outages, you need a battery add-on (hybrid system). We offer battery add-ons, but we will not pretend the standard system works during power cuts. Most customers find that net metering savings more than compensate.
PM Surya Ghar provides a direct subsidy for residential solar: Rs 30,000/kW for the first 2 kW and Rs 18,000/kW for the 3rd kW, up to a maximum of Rs 78,000. We handle the entire application: register on pmsuryaghar.gov.in, upload documents, submit. You sign the form we prepare. The subsidy is transferred directly to your Aadhaar-linked bank account after DISCOM inspection. Important: your name on Aadhaar, electricity bill, and bank account must match exactly.
Officially: 30 working days after commissioning and DISCOM inspection. Actual: 60-120 days (2-4 months). Some states are faster (Gujarat, Karnataka), some slower (UP, Tamil Nadu). If your subsidy is delayed beyond 4 months, we escalate to DISCOM and MNRE on your behalf. The subsidy amount does not change regardless of timing.
The most common reason for rejection is name mismatch between Aadhaar, electricity bill, and bank account. We check this before submission. If rejected for other reasons (transformer capacity, structural issues), we resubmit with corrections. Your solar system still works without the subsidy -- you just pay the full price. But in our experience, 90%+ of properly submitted applications are approved.
Panels need cleaning every 15 days in dusty areas, once a month in cleaner areas. Just water and a soft cloth -- no chemicals needed. Inverter needs no maintenance. We monitor your system remotely via the Suryam app and alert you if generation drops below expected levels. Annual panel degradation is 0.4-0.5%, so performance is very stable. Most maintenance is just keeping panels clean.
We monitor your system through the Suryam app. If generation drops below expected levels, we investigate: dirty panels, shading, inverter issues, or wiring problems. Your installer handles warranty repairs. Panels come with a 25-year performance warranty (90% at 10 years, 80% at 25 years). Inverter has 5-10 year warranty. If defective equipment is identified, it is replaced.
Solar panels add value to your home. The system transfers to the new owner along with all warranties. If you have an active loan, you will need to either pay it off from the sale proceeds or transfer the loan (subject to lender approval). Net metering registration can be transferred to the new owner by filing a transfer application with your DISCOM.
Yes, but it requires a new DISCOM application for the additional capacity. You may need a larger inverter. It is generally more cost-effective to install the right size from the start. Use our calculator to determine the right system size based on your current electricity bill. If your usage increases in the future (EV charging, for example), expansion is possible.
